La Petite Mort

Often we are faced with our own mortality in ways that are smaller and less significant than we realize. These small deaths are forces that challenge us, to be sure, but also guide us to the greater truths of our lives.  We are not that important; life isn't about us; we will die; life is hard.  Conversely, by pushing through these momentary humiliations, hardships and frustrations we are able to embrace our true selves and know that not simply despite those truths but because of them, we are beloved children of God.
